"UNDERQUALIFIED" was my final film during my year of studying animation at Vancouver Film School. I dedicated the first half of the program to learning, researching, and meticulously preparing for every element of the story, while the second half focused on execution and continuous revision.

Drawing inspiration from the bold and distinctive style of early '90s animation, I challenged myself to adopt a more minimalistic approach to character design. The visual style pays homage to the simplified shape language popularized by UPA Animation, blending slapstick humor, vibrant color palettes, and carefully crafted backgrounds. The project was created under the close mentorship of industry professionals, whose guidance was instrumental in introducing me to standard studio workflows.

The storytelling in "UNDERQUALIFIED" sparked conversations due to its exploration of controversial themes, resulting in a divisive reception. However, the risks taken paid off, delivering a rollercoaster of comical plot twists and unexpected visual turns that captivated audiences and left a lasting impression.
