For the music video "Deranged" by the Las Vegas-based duo This is Rogue Two, I combined animation with live-action footage to bring their creative vision to life. The project delves into the unsettling relationship between humanity and technology, drawing stylistic inspiration from 90s culture. This approach not only reflects the band’s roots but also highlights a stark contrast with today’s digital-driven world.
At the band’s request, I incorporated green-screened footage—a challenge I welcomed enthusiastically. This was my first experience mixing animation with live action in such a way, and I crafted the narrative to justify this inclusion. The character’s moment of epiphany under, where he sees his real-life self, breaks the fourth wall and helps his realize his deep reliance on technology.
The lead singer, Rob Hau, has been a supportive client since my early days as a freelancer. "Deranged" marked my second collaboration with the band, following our first project when I was just 20. They were surprised by my age at the time and wanted to see my creative evolution in this video, two years later. While our first collaboration was heavily story-driven, this video took a more abstract approach, prioritizing evocative imagery over traditional narrative.
